Cycling Tours in Alsace:

Welcome to the cycling paradise known as Alsace. Nestled on the borders of Switzerland and Germany and separated from the rest of France by the Vosges Mountains, Alsace is one of France’s best kept secrets. We’ve been organising tours in Alsace since 1994 and if you enjoy cycling then we’d love to share this secret with you.

Our guided tours start on the date you choose in the midst of the Alsace vineyards near Colmar, wine capital of Alsace and world renowned for its paintings, sculptures, the Unterlinden Museum and Auguste Bartoldi. Cycle through Grand Cru vineyards and flower decked wine villages with cobbled streets and half-timbered houses, straight from the pages of a Grimm brother’s fairy tale book. Throughout our tour we are overlooked by castles, perched high in the Vosges Mountains, as we make our way towards the magnificent city of Strasbourg, capital of Europe.
Cycle through some of the most beautiful villages in France, such as Riquewihr, Turckheim, Kaysersberg and Eguisheim. We also visit our home village of Voegtlinshoffen, which I think produces the best white wines in France. Wine tastings are organised at some of our favourite wineries.
After a day of cycling relax and enjoy the excellent Alsatian wines and beers before dinner at one of our favourite restaurants.

Cycling Conditions

The routes are mainly undulating with some gentle hills. We use quiet backroads wherever possible to avoid traffic. Various challenging or relaxing options are available on most routes. Most paths are paved. The average distance is around 40 km (25 miles) per day.

Services included:

Transfers from and to Colmar train station or Strasbourg or Basel-Mulhouse airports
Bike, e-bike and equipment rental, plus regular maintenance
Itineraries, area maps and regional information
Water bottle, mineral water, and energy snacks
Daily briefings and assistance of “Bicyclette Go !” guides and minibus (as specified on tour contract)
Hotel accommodation can be arranged for each night of the tour with breakfast
Dinners as specified on tour contract (drinks not included unless stated)
Baggage transfer between each hotel on the tour’s circuit
Specified visits, picnics and wine tastings (as specified on tour contract)

Cycling equipment included:

Fully equipped 21 speed hybrid cycles with straight handlebars offering the best ergonomic position for the combination of exercise and sightseeing
E-bikes are available
Different sized male and female frames available
Helmet and removable handlebar bag with carry strap and map case
Counter, new water bottle and gel saddle cover for extra comfort
Bike lock and key, air pump, spare inner tube and repair kit

Hotels:

We can recommend three categories of accommodation:

Standard: Charming accommodation (2* hotels)
Comfort: Elegant accommodation (3* and 4* hotels)
Deluxe: Top class luxury accommodation (4* and 5* hotels)
For customised tours the categories of accommodation we recommend can be mixed
Our choice of restaurants range from local “winstubs” to Michelin starred establishments

All rooms have private facilities with bath or shower and WC. They are personally selected for cleanliness, comfort and the welcome offered by their owner. We prefer family run hotels where our guests are genuinely welcomed.

Our post-tour questionnaire helps us to keep our standards high, make improvements, and assess the quality of our services objectively.
